What does the Dell have over the iPaq?? Not saying the Dell is bad, but certainly not better than the iPaq IMO!

Tosh E800 + HP IPAQ HX4700 THE BEST BY FAR

Dell has a better video card and more RAM but the screen on the HP 4700 is just THAT much more worth it!
the 4700(clear, nice colours), without a doubt, the Dell looks like washed out water crayons

yeah but the hx4700 has the same desease as all other ipaqs the yellow tint it is seriously annoying but its still better than the axim

yes it does have a slight yellow tint for its whites, but this is only notacible if you place it next to a screen that offers softer whites, in everyday use, you don't really see this, and when watching movies/playing games, it doesn't even show

though I can't find support for your claim that it has 16 million colours, it doesn't matter, cause it could have 160 million colours, if the LCD is of crap quality, which the dell seems to be imo, it would still lose to an HP 65K screen

heres a comparison for colours, you'll see how bad the wash out effect is, if I can find someone with a live demo of the dell, I'll display both showing the same screen and show you difference in colours, it truely unbeliveble how nice the colours are on the hp unless you see it in person. But I find it strange that somewhere would state the Dell has having 16 million colours cause I though was preveting the screen from displaying more was the OS not support higher then 65K, this is why proggies like betaplayer can use the LCDs true potential cause it uses the screen full colour ability, not just what the OS ditacts, or maybe I'm just rambling, but heres a demo of the Dell screen VS the HP, notice, even in this crummy pic how crummy crummy can be. Dell on top, HP on bottom

heres a comparison shot with the ASUS, also note that the ASUS has a better screen then the Dell, so you can imagine how bad the Dell must be next to the HP, BUT having said all this, I don't wanna seem like I think the Dell is crap, it has a better video card which will allow the movies to play more smoothly, something I wish the HP had, it plays movies fine, but too high a bitrate and it has troubles sometimes.

Lagless, you shouldn't make 3 posts in a matter of 13 minutes in the same thread like this, you should edit your posts instead.

laglessserf,

Great job presenting the comparison between the two in screens.

I would really like the yellow tint to get off the Hx4700's screen, then it can be one of the best.

Why Hx4700? I think Hx2750 is better. Memory wise, it is higher than Hx4700, though the screen is slightly smaller! Other than that the features are about the same.

I'd prefer Hx4700 to Hx2750.

BTW, is HP going to launch new models for PDA? Any comments or latest news?

I also thought that dell axim x50v is the best pda out there regardless of its non-perfect screen. but after checking other sites, i found out that it perform well below its hardware capabilities namely it's processor and dedicated vdeo card. I think it's a compatibility issue with the hardware or with its programming. As of today...the fastest Pda is the IPAQhx2700. the only downside...QVGA screen. But maybe it the right technique to get those VGA pda's to perform better...hmmmm....

But do any of the pdas make phone calls?! I think it's about time all these different technologies converged.

They haven't seemed to master the convergence of the PDA and the cell phone. There are some out there, but aren't they really bulky?

What's wrong with QVGA screen? Is it not as good as the Hx4700? BTW, I'm planning to purchase the Hx2750 in 3 or 4 weeks time. The question is shall I purchase it now or shall I wait for newer models from HP? Anyone knows if HP is coming with new non phone PDA?

chess, there's nothing wrong with a QVGA screen but nowadays, VGA screens are in and QVGA is out. Simply VGA has 4x number of pixel compare to a qvga screen so you can imagine how sharp those screens are especially in viewing photos and videos.

Now Ipaq2750 is onw of the fastest pocket pc to date but it is a bit expensive and should had made with VGA screens. But on the up side, QVGA consumes less power so your pda would last longer compare to pda running a VGA screen regardless if both have the same processor. BTW try considering a DELL pocket pc...much cheaper with equal performance to highend HP PPCs.
