Average size?

My parents just bough two Canon Ixus 30 digital cameras and I will be getting one. :D
They need a SD card to use with it and I kind of wonder how large (file size) the the pictures become in the highest resolution?

Depends.
I get 2.2~2.7MB files on my 5megapixel Sony cybershot...
I suggest getting a 256MB card minimum.

Jag har en Canon Digital IXUS 430 och jag har aldrig tagit något bild som har varit större än 2MB. De flesta bilder ligger på 1 - 1.5MB.

SD cards are cheap so I suggest you to get a 512MB.

Well I'll order a 256MB for my parents and a 512MB for my self! The problem now is to find a USB 2 card reader that will read/write 512MB+ SD cards and have Kingston Elite Pro support that will give you greater speed... So far I've only found two that can read 512MB+ cards, bu they dont have the elite pro support :-/

I own a Hama card reader that has so far read every single card, the ironic part is my two other brothers have the same and can't read Sony pro duos... :)

Karim, ehm I know and that was actually the reason I was using the laughing smiley! If someone would have taken away your moderator status I would never have used it... that just would have been plain ugly! ;)

I think you should look what the battery life is. If the battery can't produce 300 pictures you don't need a 512 card that will pick 300. If the batter can stay up only for 150 pictures then 256 will be good enough. When you empty the card you will leave the battery recharging.
