comon guys, i really want a signature, whats rwong with it

Yeah, its cleaner without them.
I know lots of forum has signature, but I dun like to see repetition especially when ppl put pictures or write very long sentences in the signature column.
So I think its better dun have signature.
It makes the members of the forum looks more mature.
The main reason why there are no sigs is because people were putting there own websites in them and its against the forum policy for it. Dont bet on seeing it become available again.

it also:
a) slows the whole forum down.
b) slows the thread down that you're viewing if you put pics/animations in your post/signature.
So am I. You don't really gain anything from seeing endless pictures of people's usernames in graphic form (usually).
As people have said most people use them for adverts anyway.
I think the default setting for number of posts per page is 50.. now imagine if each message is doubled in length because of a signature. I know you can change default length, but still.

I'm also against signatures so I'm glad we don't have them in here.
Our avatar size is a joke

McKinley, after alot of negotiations with SFY it was either 50x50, smaller, or no avatars at all. So... ;)
A simple text signature would be cool, sumink like 25 characters, but I agree with BrightSpark about the speed of the threads and the dumbass images people put in there signatures.
So Karim, there is no chance of larger avatars until we upgrade to a new forum? When we do eventually upgrade can we have rss feeds at the same time?
badger, I don't know if there's any upgrade in the near future. Administration does not think avatars and/or signatures are very useful features, I don't think we're getting more than what we have now.
RSS feeds would help a lot, I did speak to Eldar about it a few months back and he said he liked the idea of it.......I even gave him a a link to a vBulletin page with a add-in.

and btw i like phpBB.. rather lean on resources and nice to work with.

Basicly they are feeds of new posts from the site which can be viewed on a desktop application/newsreader or within another php script (ie the front page of mobile review).
The fact that having signatures turned on, and people having 3 paragraph long sigs makes the page twice as long. It's really annoying, especially as others have said, when people have images in them too.
Well, if you ask me my opinion, I would say that I do not absolutely agree. No signatures please! Signatures are the best way to pollute threads and it is not aesthetic :down:

I have an old signature in my profile. Would like to change that! But changing
my signature is not possible? Could someone switch the signature on only for
the profile itself. It could give more information of the person itself, but it
does not have to be seen in topics and forums.

I hope they change their minds one day, resizing avatars is not always fun... I find nothing wrong with 100x100 avatars without losing maturity in this prestigious forum...
Avatars are not really essential. They're fun and nice and cute and blah, but not essential still... I kind of agree with the admins, in the end ;)
I think the avatars are fine as they are, plus people like Noka6630 can't work out how to resize images :p

I really don't know who's signature that is, but he's a perfect example for birth control :D
NO SIGNATURES is my opinion!
But give persons the option to add a signature in the profile of a member. He/She can
make his or here story about him or hereself. That is nice. So all those major pictures
are only seen in the profile and not in topics.
