Just picked up my Ipod U2 SE and I must say it's so hot!! Ok, they normal Ipod is really stylish in white, but this is cool. Can highly recommend it to anyone thnking about getting an Ipod. Though if you're not into U2 you might not find the laser engraved autographs on the back that interesting
How many ppl here have an Ipod and what do you think of it?

I haven't got an iPod. I chose the M3L over the iPod because the M3L has a much better battery life and FM Radio. But I have to say that it doesn't look as good as an iPod, even though it's a little smaller.

a2k24, actually I've got an even better deal on my phone; my company pays it for me :p

I have the 40 GB iPod, (not the new colored-screen one though, the regular old one) and I really love it. Who needs shitty mobile quality for MP3?! But an iPod! :) The sound is truely fantastic, I have over 30 GB already full with songs, and of course I transfered all my albums onto it... I just carry my entire song archive in my pocket! You can even use it as an external hard drive to store various types of documents. And IMO the price is really fair, US 399 is very reasonable for a 40 GB MP3 player & external mass storage disk. It's truely a wonderful device, but make sure you get it in white though... No offense odelsteken, but the red and black really is ugly IMO, I love the black/red 7610 but on the iPod it just didn't work out...
Enjoy it to the max, it's the reference in MP3 players today :)

karim, I respect your opinion but I like the black a bit more... don't know why but I've always loved black colored devices (except for TVs, dvds etc.).
I agree, it's a fantastic device and to even be thinking about using a phone as an mp3player is plain foolish!! :)

odelsteken, For what price have you bought it? Here in moscow it costs $439...

andy.c

lesha, $389 including shipping from the states! ;)

Apple is going to launch a flashbased Ipod Minimi...
It's very small, but doesn't contain much data, here is a source:

I heard that too - one that's small enough to hang around your neck. As if the white headphones weren't thief magnets already. :insane:

As if the white headphones weren't thief magnets already.
Thats true, but I don't use them. They're crap compared to for e.g. my Koss the plugg...

Memzee
09-12-2004, 21:23
Yeh I don't use my iAudio headphones either. I did look at the Koss headphones, but I ended up going for the Sony MDR-EX71SLB Fontopia headphones, which I love. The bass is cystal clear, and when I listen to songs with them I hear channels, like backing vocals or guitar licks or whatever that I've never noticed before.

You can also get them in white to match the iPod, btw.

andy.c
09-12-2004, 21:28
Memzee, great but my Ipod is black ;) (the U2 SE)
I'm happy about my Koss though, are your fontopia plugs as well?

Memzee
09-12-2004, 21:33
Kind of. They have removable thin rubber membrane caps (best way I can describe them), that come with the headphones in small, medium and large sizes. They don't mould to your ear in the sense that they stay that shape, but they're very thin and easily adapt to your ear shape.

andy.c
09-12-2004, 21:38
sounds cool, whats the price? My Koss were just £15 so there's room for a new set if they're worth its price :)

Memzee

£25.99 from Amazon.

what's all the xtra stuff next to the earphones?

Memzee
10-12-2004, 21:07
odelsteken, it's an extension chord for the headphones. They're an ideal length for use with equipment if you have a remote for it, but if not you can use the extension, and the grey SONY thing is the little case for keeping the unraveled, unused wire. It's kind of hard to explain. Look at the earbuds to see the thin silicon membrane thingy I was talking about.

mweb6161, Nice! That's what I would go for if I was going to buy an MP3 player at this time. You can play games, watch videos, view photos, oh... and play MP3's too. :p

andy.c
10-12-2004, 23:09
mweb6161, looks really cool :) Tell us about it when you've played around with it for a couple days...

Memzee, yeah I see that. Might be of interest to buy me a set of those... Athough I like the sound that comes out of my Koss, just dont think they fit my ears that good. They're to big, falls out sometimes which is a bit annoying.
Are there different sizes or only one?

Memzee
10-12-2004, 23:47
Small, Medium and Large.

Question for anyone with a 3G 40Gb. I bought mine used through Amazon.co, the centre select button has no click to it and requires a very hard but quick press to activate but I have to be carefull otherwise it will select the option I want and the next one. But 4G ones I've used have a definate push and click to them. Is mine knackered?

andy.c
11-12-2004, 00:45
mart, what I've understood the 3G Ipods doesn't have clickwheels, just the sensor, so what you describe seems normal or slightly knackered... but I'm not sure, haven't tried the 3G Ipods!

Karim

3G iPod is 100% equal to 4G except the thing is based on touch and the buttons are placed horizontally next to it.

Memzee, just put in an order for a pair of Sony Fontopia MDR-EX71SL. Looks really hot and I cant wait to get them... :)

Memzee, I played around with my Koss plugs yesterday and the one in my left ear just kept falling out :( I get like 5 sifferent sets of sizes but they are all about the same size :( I hope ones included in the Fontopia is noticable different... I think I have pretty narrow ear channels!

Got a 3G iPod + black Sony EX71

Just too bad my ears are too different to get a perfect fit and balance with the sonys.
My left ear is slightly to small for the large, and the right is slightly to big for the small :P Works very well stilll though.

Just remember to put them in with your mouth open odelsteken, to get a good seal.

mart I barely have to touch my centrebutton to get it to react.

oh and btw.. I paid approximately $85 for the sonys at the tax-free in Denmark.... :(

I thought there were 3 different sizes included in the package - and none of them fits you? :eyes:

Thanks, I will! ;)

I think I paid around $75 of a Swedish online shop... they should arrive tomorrow ;)

It's more of a balance problem because there is always one ear that gets a better fit.
I wish I had 2 equally big ears.... ;)

haha, maybe they'll grow on you :p

MortalWombat, I didn't know about the mouth open thing - I'll try it.

My ears are the same size so I don't have a problem - Medium fit me fine for both.

I am planning on getting an Mp3 player. Is an ipod the only one to get, what about the new sony HD3?

andy.c

There are lots of choices but I like the Ipod. The only negative thing about is the battery that cant be replaced unless you send it to Apple!

Ipod is by no means the 'one' to get. There are plenty of others around now which will play not just AAC format as the ipod does but MP3, WMA etc. Although from the ones I have seen they tend to be smaller drives, on the plus side the actual things are smaller though.

Ironmike If you get one think seriously if you want the mini, only a 4gb drive, you'll fill it quick enough and then what? A 20 or 40gb would be a much better buy unless you are planning to keep smallish amount of music on it and remove tracks to be able to add tracks all the time.

Sony has just brought out the new NW HD3 player that looks phat. It is much on improved on the previous model, playing much more file formats. Check the links below:-

I had some Koss The Plug, they are good. Now got the Sony MDR-EX71 and like them alot.
The HD1 feels nicer than the HD3, I think it is because the 1 has aluminium top and bottom panels too, the 3 has plastic ones.
I got my iPod mini when they were released in the UK, I haven't really looked after it though, corners are dented after falling while riding my bike, I stood on it once and the click wheel went under the aluminium body, and I've cracked the screen lens. But it still works ok!

i got my iPod [20gb] just two days ago and it rocks!!!!! i really like the click wheel cos of the volume changing.. :p its like turning up the volume in the radio only theres no circly thing.. hahah.. the iPod "minimi" is also known as the shuffle right?? :D its not practical to buy that iPod IMO.. cause the people just look at the brand name..[like me..:p] e.g.: "hey do you have a mp3 player?", "yeah", "whats the name?", "iPod".. "whoa!! that's like, HOT!!" hahaha :D it's also like buying a signature clothing name like lacoste.. just because it's a lacoste doesn't mean it's really heavy duty.. LoL

I've got a 3G 20GB version and i love it. And it only cost £170 quid cos i got it refurbished from apple, was good as new when i got it.

The battery life's a bit crap, but i can life with it, and it just looks too damn good! I dont like the new click wheel though, i think mine looks nicer, and it has no moving parts! The extended battery life would be nice though.

Ohh...there are places sell replacement batteries and kits to fit them, they cost about £30 if i recall correctly. the URL is http://shop.ipodworld.co.uk/iPodWorldSite/category/iPod%5FBatteries+and+Power/

i get about 7 hours out my ipod.......i usually get a week of use cos i only really use it walking to a from work/college.

Ohh and i can highly recommend Displex Display Polish, i used it on my ipod and it looks like new again (it can even get fine scratches off the metal bit of the case).

I only have to charge my iAudio M3 once a week and I listen to it every day on the way to uni.. one hour there, one hour back.

I've nearly run out of space though. I think it might be because some of the CD's I've downloaded are encoded at 320kbps. If I convert them to 128kbps AAC I should be able to cut off a couple of GB.

andy.c
21-03-2005, 00:53
the CD's I've downloaded
 you download stuff of the Internet?! That's stealing... :p hehe

IMHO 3g ipods look better than the 4g ones cause the thing is touch-sensible and not click-able ;)

andy.c
23-03-2005, 00:22
Well, in the 4G it's both touch-sensible and click-able ;)

mykiemm
23-03-2005, 03:14
No, the 3G version;s buttons are all touch sensitive, you dont have to actually push them.

and it has the red backlight on the buttons too.
