It can be something from a huge SLR to an ultra slim personal digital camera.
Mine is the SONY DSC-F828 Cyber-shot

Canon EOS-10D

6megapixel, Digital Single Lens Reflex Camera.

My lens sets are the following
1.Sigma APO MACRO 150mm F2.8 EX DG HSM
http://dc8.donga.com/lens/sigma_apo150macro/150_2.8_HSM.gif

2.Canon EF28 - 300mm F3.5 ~ F5.6L IS USM
http://dc1.donga.com/lens/img/lenscanonl_28_300.gif
This is my favorite lens. This has such a supurb image quality.

And bundle lenses...

=============================================

This is my personal thought on high-end consumer digital cameras such as Sony 828: I think those products are misleading the customers. For example, Sony 828 is full of noise at high ISO, but it is more expansive than Canon EOS 300D. I can't believe this. Those high-end digital consumer cameras are misleading the peoples. I don't believe that high-end digital camera can even come close to the freedom of Digital Single Lens Reflex Cameras. Even the lowest end of SLR camera, EOS 300D, is better than 828. I think Sony should lower their price. IT's just too expansive and worse than the price range. Probably 700~800$ will be a reasonable price.

Exciting700, F828 is not a DSLR camera. It is just a high-end digital consumer camera. DSLR usually allows Lens exchangable mounts. And those SLR focuses thru the lens. :)

kristof.vanriet, damn i envy u!!!

I think this is the best DSLR camera at that range. The spec is close to Mark 2!!!

It's the best DSLR camera available at that price now!!! The super silky smooth and great balance!!! I was so surprised when i saw the pic taken at ISO800. It was smoother than my ISO400 picture!!!

kristof.vanriet,
I saw a newspaper reporter using that!
He took a picture of me using it.
sunystory@hotmail.com,
Yeah, F828 is not a DSLR camera:)

Money no object = Canon 1Ds mkII
More reasonable is kristof's 20D, almost same but 8mp instead of 16mp and more compact.

I'm surprised how little mention Canon Ixus 40 (SD300) is getting here. It's canon's smallest camera (at 20mm thick, mobile size, 116grams), has quality 4mp ccd, does 640x480 movies at 30fps (320x240 movies at 60fps), and has full metal shell. It has same digic II circuitry as the DSLRs above. In comparison, the recording capability of even the latest 3g handsets is quite...poor :)

gaurav311,
The problem with Canon IXUS 40 is soft edges, just like a mobile phone. It is of course not that bad but not that good either.
I have read several reviews and almost all of them mention this.

Vampyre, yeah, i was so discouraged when 20D came out. I think the Digic for 20D is upgraded from 10D. Comparing my 10D to 20D noise test, even though 20D has the same size cmos, the noise level is the same or in some circumstances 20D had lower noise level!!! I just envy 20D!

kristof.vanriet, did u see the new EF-s lens kits? It's just amazing!!! i think one of the wide angle bundle includes from 10mm!! What a lens!! And I heard they also used ED lenses and some other special lenses, so i am guessing the new EF-s lens kits are comparable to L lenses

Wow that!
The Digital IXUS 40 is indeed the smallest and most powerful digital camera in the world currently!
I'm planning to record lots of videos with it;)
And funny ones too:)

What you mean?
The Digital Ixus 40 is like a mobile phone in size:yes however, it's edges are hard as steel unlike mobile phones!

Images are softer on the edges.

So how come it's a bad thing?

gaurav311
07-11-2004, 21:47
Exciting700, less clarity.
also a correction - the weight is 180grams, not 116gram (was thinking of something esle). Still, you can check the image and video samples on canon's site for ixus 40 and they are on a very different quality level to phones :)

S1 is a great cam but it has probs in low light situations, hopefully S2 (or whatever the successor is called) wont have the same issues, its certainly a cam to look out for when it will come out (probably march).

Nikon D70.

I prefer Nikon over Canon because I think Canon are focusing too much on marketing and not enough on the photographer.
I've always used Nikon and always will, unless something really radical changes in the future.

Rogger, D70 is a really good model. Functionwise it's as good as 10D. Traditionally, Nikkor lenses focused on sharpness. That's what made me to decide a more expansive but similar spec 10D. Canon lenses are a bit softer, but have wonderful colortone:) I both like Nikkon and Canon, as well as Pentax

sunystory, cheers mate.
Well, I don't think it's as expensive as your 28-300 L anyway. :) Btw, wondering how you can manage to carry that big thing around. Even, the size of 70-200 f2.8L IS makes me still hesitate to buy it until now.

sunystory@hotmail.com
19-11-2004, 00:17
yeah, my 28-300L is quite big. I think it's as big as 75-300 IS USM when it extended. I usually don't mount the lens with the camera every time. I put in my camera bag, and bring the bag around when taking pictures. I prefer hardcase btw. I think the bundle does good in most cases. And plus, in 20D, you can mount the new 3 EF-s lenses!! I really liked one of them.

I don't really have a favourite since I haven't used more than just one DSLR and that is my Canon EOS-350D which I don't use at all :(
For Ultra slim sized cameras, it's the Canon Digital Ixus 55
