Join the club, you seem to have a similar problem to myself only I'm trying to use Bluetooth not the cable.. It's strange though when using InfaRed it seems to be fine. I've put it down to a software bug. Because as like you, PcSync has no problem using the ports but PIM and File Manager does.
Would you happen to be on XP Media Centre?... I wonder if it's machine spec specific. |

Okay, like so many others, I've had the "Cannot open the port and this program is switched in offline mode. After, try to switch in online." error with EasyStudio 2 since I first got the damn thing. And while I've been able to upload/download images, ringtones etc using the Windows based wireless transfer link I haven't been able to download my phonebook and that's what's really been bugging me. (Always great to have a backup of that).
My exact problem has been: Using infrared my error has been as stated above with the added bonus of not being able to select any Port whatsoever when going into File, Setup. By fiddling with Regedit I have now been able to get around this problem and all aspects of EasyStudio 2 now work fine (though it still shows no Ports in the File, Setup area) But it's working, so who cares. How I got Easy Studio 2 working: 1. Hit your Explorers start button, select Run, type in Regedit and hit OK 2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER - Software - Samsung - EasyStudio - Userinfo 3. If there is no 'CommPort'DWord Value in the Userinfo folder then Right click Userinfo, select New and DWord value, type in 'CommPort'and leave it at that. (the value data should be 0 ie 0x00000000(0)). (I'm actually not sure that this step makes any difference at all anyway but it's the first of the 2 things i did in the Registry and it's working so who am I to question why). 4. You then need to select the 'Information' folder (which is a couple of folders above the Userinfo folder (still in HKEY_CURRENT_USER - Software - Samsung - EasyStudio) 5. If there is no 'OpenPort' DWord value then add one ie. Right click on Information, select New and DWord value, type in 'OpenPort'. Once added, right click on OpenPort, select Modify and change the Value Data field to 4. (This number worked for me but I guess it may vary from PC to PC). That's all folks. That's pretty much all i know so I hope this is helpful to some of you and I hope it's easy enough to understand. One last thing is to make sure your phone and pc have their infrared connection thing happening before opening PIM and File Manager and it should be all systems go. As i said before though, my settings still show no Ports to choose so don't worry about that. This may also work for people having the same issues with PIM & File Manager via serial cable or USB but I'm not sure. And just remember, mucking around with the Registry can be problematic, so maybe back yours up first. |

THANKS DAKKOTTA!!!
your solution didn't actually work for me, but while I was in the registry I saw something else, which promted me to check the speed of the ports. Listen up because this may be the cause of the problem for other people... To fix bluetooth, I went in to the device manager >> Ports (COM & LPT) >> right click Standard Serial over Bluetooth link (COM4) >> properties >> port settings. Initially what I did here was put the "Bits per second" down to 300 and did the same in the PIM Manager Setup window.. restarted the PIM manager and IT WORKED!!!.. it started to syn automatically, I had it originally set at 115200 .. obviously this is too quick for either my pc or the phone to handle.. but it was ok for InfaRed. After going through different speeds I found 57600 was the fastest I could set it to for it to work. I then set it to the same speed in PIM Manager >> File >> Setup. I would suggest anyone having similar problems do this, wether it's on Bluetooth, Infared, USB or Serial. I'm so glad it's finally working!, my phone is perfect now! ![]() Last edited by Silent-interlude; 16-04-2005 at 04:02.. |

By the way, this is really odd considering PcSync was happy with the bluetooth port at 115200.. it's just the PIM manager that wasn't.. has to be a software bug.. at least there's a work around for now, you really don't notice the difference in speed anyway.
IMPORTANT: You must close PcSync before you can use PIM Manager to avoid port conflicts. |

Just an update I found out this morning, if you decrease the speed as explained above, connect your phone to the PIM manager, then go back to device manager and set it back to 115200, then close down the PIM manager and restart it and it connects!.. regardless of the speed setting indevice manager, weird huh?.. but this means you only need to suffer a slight speed decrease with the PIM manager and not any other bluetooth operations you carry out. I bet this all applies to other forms of connection, not just BT.

Erm i gotta another freaking problem with this so called EASY studio2.0. I have managed to get the phone connected via USB cable from fonefunshop.com and have managed to get a picture sent to the phone using the file manager stuff, however the problem i am having is getting music onto the phone. It starts but after bout 10 seconds it just stops and then says connection closed and the phone restarts. This is very annoying as i have no idea why. It also constantly says failed to upload mp3 to phone when i am looking thorugh the music that i can transfer from pc. Whats a Dogg to do!!!??

I'm currently using a Samsung E330 - I bought a USB Data Cable from Ebay. I'm currently using WinXP Home (SP2). This is startong to annoy me. I have tried every program on the Data Suite CD. I,m sure that for the E330 you need to use Easy Suite 1.0. I can get the File Manager to come up on that, yippee (Where I can get nothing with ES 2).
The problem I have is with the File Manager not showing the folders on the phone (I.E. It says My Phone, that is all ) I believe this is because it says 'Offline' at the bottom of the screen. I can get it to connect but it hangs the program while trying to load the final part from the phone, plus I get error msg's saying it can't open the messages. I'm sure it should work. I have been on the internet for ages, lots of ppl seem to have problems with the USB Cable and Easy studio. Can anyone help, is it a problem with WinXP (SP2)?, Is it the BAUD Rate? Is it something missing from RegEdit? So much to try. Please Help Thanks Mark |

taltos11, have u installed the usb driver which should have come with the cable. Make sure that windows first recognises the usb cable that is plugged in and then go to Setup in PIMS&FileManager and select the com port that u have your cable plugged in.
EasyStudio 1.0 is the correct software for E330... |

Crasher,
Thanks for the confirmation on the software. Yep, I have the USB Cable down as COM4, doesn't seem to be any problem there. I have tried a couple of USB ports on my PC (I.E. One I know works). I have also tried swapping to COM1, COM2, COM3 and then back to COM4. No luck. Mark |

kelly1818, no idea why it's doing that. Maybe you should try installing easyStudio first and the usb driver afterwards. Uninstall everything and try again.
It's a pain in the a*se i know but with easyStudio it always seems the case of getting it right rather doing anything in particular wrong. |

error message on easystudio
Hi guys, can anybody help. I have windows XP and I've run all the MS updates, but when click on the desktop Icon for Easystudio to download MP3s onto my d500, a microsoft message pops up saying EasyStudio.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. The error signature says
AppName: easystudio.exe AppVer: 2.0.0.5012 ModName: esdata.dll ModVer: 2.0.0.5011 Offset: 0000b4f6 I have tried the software from Samsungmobile.com as well as the disc supplied, but it just does the same thing. Steve - a really frustrated user of an otherwise great little phone |

steve@reversingmadeeasy.com, it's best to contact samsungmobile.com directly.
Even if they arent able to help u, the more ppl that write to them the better cos then there's a better chance of them making an update to ES2 with all the problems fixed (hopefully). |

Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know how to solve it?
When trying to upload files thru file manager it will upload small files but when trying to upload an mp3 the file uploading box appears it starts to upload then about half way thru I get the failed to transfer box. If it transfers small files then surely everything is installed and working properly :S |

dmc2373,
yes, first of all,I'll merge your thread with the "easystudio problems" one... Secondly, you have to select "tools" then "File Manager" and there you select your ringtones and move them in the correct folder on your phone (downloaded sounds if I'm not mistaken) b clicking on the blue upload button... ![]() Good luck... ![]() |

I have tried opening the software with and with out my phone connected via bluetooth. I know my phone is connecting succesfuly as i can send and recieve files using the built in bluetooth software. |

Easy Studio 2.0 loader white screen
I can't get the easy studio software loader to excute propoerly on my sister's desktop (AMD 600Mhz running XP SP1). All that happens is the auto run starts but displays just a white box where the Easystudio options should be (I know this because it works fine on my laptop)
Anyone got any solutions.. does it rely on a java plug in or something? Cheers ![]() |

No contact between phone and pc
I own an e720. I have fully (or at least what i believe to be fully) installed Easy-studio 2 and have bought a samsung data cable (advertised as that for the e810 but compatible with my phone). However, whenever i plug the cable into the pc and mobile, my phone cuts out and turns off, but the LED flash illuminates. I cannot detect and conection with the computer. Anyone know what to do?!
Cheers muchly |

Groovychickcici, go into ES in offline mode (phone not connected) and go to setup. In the setup window, at the bottom there is a little box at the bottom, untick the box and that way lit wont load the phone's data automatically each time. You can do it manually by selecting the reload icon at the top-left corner.
