Nokia 3250: new S60 musicphone

just returned home from a cool house-party in my hometown berlin, where nokia just launched the new 3250 exclusively. chemical brothers were playing live and rocking the house and nokia had a very cool chillout-lounge in another erea where you could also check new phones like N91, 6270 and lots of 3250s

3250 is a mid-range mp3-phone, a "small brother" of the N91, with S60, symbian OS 9.0, mini-SD-slot, 2 mp-cam (poor cam-features, not so good as N70/ N90). but no wi-fi, without HDD, and no 3G on board.

hardware is quite nice: candybar with twistable keypad - music-keys on one side, normal keypad on the other side.

expect it to be announced next week and will be available in Q1/ 06, aproxm. 400 Euros...

just looking for some webspace to upload pics...

Wow! Another cool and innovative design is my first impresssion. 3230 with a twist and improved specs. Is the screen new or the older S60 screen?

well, the screen looked better than 6630/ 6680, but not as high resoluted than N90... and, yes: the joystick and softkey felt like 3230. the phone is quite light, but a bit thicker than 3230...

yes, the screen does indeed look quite nice in the pics, and it does seem a bit thicker (but maybe a bit smaller?) than 3230. I think it looks like it could be a big seller and a pretty nice music phone!

Nice catch Franco74 and thank you for sharing those pics!!

IMO the 3250 looks very nice. Perhaps a bit too similar to the 3230, but I'm willing to forgive all its flaws just because I love that twisting cam concept

it could still be 3G since you could twist the camera to face you, like you could with the butt ugly N90.

I really like it...it looks cool; might be a big hit...and if it was 3G and got the N90's screen I would certainly consider it...

I like it too! Looks quite small too in the live pic. The only immediate concern I would (besides perhaps too small keypad) is the durability/stability of the hinge when using the keypad for texting etc. in the longer run.

WOW!
Nice fone. Nice TWIST concept too.
Im confused, To me, the 3230 wasnt much appealing, but this thing is attractive..for some reason. Its Thicker too. and the screen is traditional s60 kind.
I kinda like it. But im waiting for a good slider fone, better screen.
If its cheap, i may get it.

This is the reason why N91 is delayed right? they have this great idea, and neededd to sell it, so let's delay N91 and make some people buy this!!
It's a nice phone though..

Edited:

Forget this idea if the phone only reaches stores Q1 2006..

I like the twister double-sided keypad concept.
Could be adjusted for QWERTY on other phones possibly.
Is the cam 2MP? Cos I enlarged the pic of the mouse mat which shows the lens of the phone and it seems to say "3" and then some letters.

it looks, but it's only the font that is misleading.. Franco74 saw them and he says it's 2Mpx, so....

That sounds fair enough. Cannot imagine that Nokia would want this phone to steal the thunder of forthcoming model.

koblih, the screen is probably only 208x176...if you look at the last picture (for example at the message envelope) it is not as 'smooth' as in pictures from the N90 screen...

chlettn, in some pics it looks like the N90's screen and in some the standard S60 screen...

alexandr3, yeah I know, but in the one I referred to the screen is taken 'the sharpest'...in the other pictures it could be a high res screen or the usual 208x176, but in the other picture is clearly a 208x176 screen, and therefore I believe it only has the low S60-typical resolution...
And I don't think that Nokia would put their high-end screens into the lowest-end-S60 they're going to offer...

Yeh yeh, that MSG envelope made me sure that screen is rwgular s60 screens.
