I just bought this mobile and after ,I configured it at a Vodafone shop for GSM and GPRS. When I try to send an mms to another mobile or to an email address I recieve an error message that it has failed in sending it.I tried several times but always recieving the same message. When I recieve an mms and open it it is in black and white when the sender has send it in colours. When I try to connect through an url I recieve that HTML has not been found and can't connect.
I've been told that the trouble is because of the software of the mobile. At the vodaphone outlet they checked the settings and found they were correct but told me that the mobile was made for Italy as there is a mark "Tim" on it and is sold much cheaper in that country but who buys it have to connect through Tim.As it was brought to Malta they had to change the software so it can be used with Vodaphone but sometimes the mobile don't accept the new software and will not function properly. Is this true?Could a new software be made to it?If so,how?

Hi,

I would suggest to either ask the person who sold you the mobile - he would have probably unlocked himself or installed new software.I'm sure he would repair or replace it.

I would also check with www.planetsagem.com. Go to downloads and find "update your my x-6" section where you could install new software with a data cable on your mobile. You might have to be a member to be able to download items, its free to join.

I hope that you manage to repair it.(BTW in malta i think you cannot send mms from go to vodafone or vice versa so it will give you a failed message if you try to do so.)

Do you mind me asking, where did you buy the mobile from?(ie from a shop in malta?Which one?) Coz when i wanted to buy mine i only found fom vodafone and go mobile.

From Fgura I bought it.There are 2 shops ,one in Gallarija complex and the other in St.Thomas str., Fgura. Both sell this mobile. As I said before, now I know that all mobiles marked "Tim"have to be modified when sold in Malta.I'm not sure if you can send or not from Go to Voda but I tried from Voda to Voda with no success but receiving mms in black and white is a clear evidence that it's something from the software. From where do you buy this cable?

You can go to go mobile outlets, they have it but its expensive (lm20 i think).
I bought one from www.mobilegadgets.net but it's not original so it might give you some trouble (I had to do some "modification" for it to work with Mypicturesandsounds program ie. i did a small connection wire between hole 4 and 8 on the seiral port.)

Also before spending a lot on cable check on the planetsagem.com website, they might not have the software upgrade for your mobile since its from tim, they dont have mine either. You have to check your number with the number of the software! If its not exactly the same it wont work!

Like i said before i would ask the seller for a replacement, before trying to fix it myself.Probably if he cannot repair the software himself he wouldnt send it back to tim, probably he would give you a brand new one.
Anyway i hope that you manage to repair it or get a replacement. If not i really dont know what else to suggest.

He's going to install it the new software. If it does not work he's going to replace it with another model as it was the last one.

Hi guys,
I'm italian and i bought this mobile too, exactly one with the TIM logo.......The mobile is simlock free so to sell it in malta the shopper have nothing to do just sell :)
The price in ITALY is 199 euro.
If you would like to change your software you can do it but you need something:
1) A connection cable USB or RS232 (for the firmware update)
2) Telmem, a software for sagem, is free and you have just to download it, is easy to find on the net
3) a new firmware to install on mobile, you can find it on planet Sagem the best one for me is 251305584
OK now start to play!!!
Before of all install Telmem and connect the mobile after that you are sure of the connection clik on the button "PROM" in the new window fill the "field n?" with 997 and click on the button "read field" now highlight the field seven and start to write of the new firmware (pay attention starting from the field number seven you can see the firmware number) more or less should be like this:
51 31 64 33 00 13 25 12 54 16 20 00 00 etc. etc.
And after the modification should appear like this:
51 31 64 33 00 13 25 13 05 58 40 00 00 etc. etc.
Now click on rewrite, exit from Telmem and your mobile is ready to an update with the new firmware 251305584

FATTman Have you done this yourself? Does it work?Cause i have the vodafone software and i would like to get rid of it. Also what if my cable is not an original one, isn't there the risk that i damage the mobile? What do you think?

Ok never mind, i already did it anyway. Thanks anyways.Well i have to say i'm glad that i got rid of the red menus, but what the hell happened to the midi ringtones - They suck a lot more than the ones of the vodafone firmware. I guess vodafone had fixed that up.
